Celtic Manor’s Joe Ferguson (above) made an eagle three at the final hole to share top place with Richard Dinsdale and Phillip Price at Newport Golf Club’s Rogerstone course in the South Wales PGA medal.
Ferguson made four earlier birdies in his four-under-par return of 68.
He matched the impeccable Dinsdale (Parc Golf Academy) who did not drop a shot over a course he knows so well, having played there so often as a member.
Price, who is keeping in trim before playing in the European Tour final qualifying in Spain, made six birdies and dropped two shots.
Rhys Enoch (Celtic Manor) made a dramatic debut even though he finished fourth three shots behind. He eagled the seventh and added six birdies to take the birdie sweep. A triple bogey seven on the 17th was his downfall.
Chris O'Neill (Valleys Golf Enterprise) and Aneurin Brown (Cardiff Golf Centre) shared the assistants’ award on 75.
