American Zeke Martinez led home 23 qualifiers for this week’s ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship at De Vere Mottram Hall.
Martinez carded a four-under-par 69 to secure his place in the opening event of the European Senior Tour, which carries a £260,000 prize fund.
A total of 14 PGA Members also secured their place in the field alongside the elite of Senior golf including Ryder Cup winning captains Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam.
Berkshire’s Mark Howell (Henley) was a shot behind Martinez in a four-way share of second spot.
Also through to the four-day championship, with level par or better making the grade, are: Kevin Phillips (Winterfield), Albert McKenzie (Saunton), Shaun Ball (South Staff ), John Twissell (Garstang CGC), Warwick Holland (Pitcheroak), Mitch Kierstenson (Penfold Park), Keith Baxter (Buchanan Castle), Gerry Burke (Curragh), Phillip Gresswell (Bonn), Alan Gibson (Sherdley Park), Charles Haynes (Olton), Jimmy Hegarty (Claremorris) and Tony Charnley.
