A birdie three at the last hole gave Michael McGeady top of the leaderboard at Athenry, on one of his rare visits to the PGA circuit in Ireland.
The Derry man pipped the field in the fourth Etihad Airways Sprint as he posted a level-par-70.
The winner spread five birdies, three bogeys, a double-bogey and nine pars over his card with the double-bogey six at 16 leaving him needing a birdie over the last two holes to snatch victory. He supplied the winner at the 18th hole to finish in style.
After two opening pars, McGeady went bogey-bogey-birdie-bogey to turn in two-over-37 but then rattled off birdies at 10, 13 and 15 before that six at the 16th which put the pressure on the former Irish amateur international. He withstood the pressure to birdie the last hole for victory.
Brendan McGovern and Damian Mooney finished joint second one shot back with Headfort pro McGovern also making birdie three at the 18th, after pencilling in bogey fives at the 15th and 16th.
Mooney (Ballyliffin) carded a consistent round of 16 pars, a birdie and two bogeys. He wiped out birdie three at the fifth hole with a bogey at the short sixth and also stumbled at par four 14.
