The future is looking bright for one Midlands golf club – after it invested in mobile floodlights to expand its coaching opportunities.
Northants County Golf Club put itself in the spotlight as it officially put their new floodlights to the test with the aid of its junior members.
Driven by PGA Professional Mark Norton, who oversees junior development at the club, months of hard work came to fruition thanks to funding provided by Barclays Sport for Spaces.
On a crisp January evening, the lights were put to the test on the club’s Colt Course, a par-three course with artificial tees and greens enabling play all year round.
Norton (above left) is optimistic that the investment will enable the club to continue growing its junior section, which currently numbers more than 100, by being able to use its outdoor facilities long after the sun has gone.
General manager Elaine McBride, is confident that the investment will play a significant role in developing year-round after-school coaching and playing opportunities on the club’s par three Colt Course and also broaden the club’s appeal to the entire family.
