Forgan opened up with two birdies and two bogies to finish the morning play with a one-shot lead from Chris Smith.
But it was his playing partner Richard Smith who emerged as the afternoon challenger and there were just two strokes in it after eight holes.
Unfortunately for Smith, he was unable to find initial tee-shot on the ninth and Forgan’s advantage duly doubled turning into the back nine.
He kept reeling off the pars on the superb Aldeburgh lay-out before recording a rare birdie on 17 to provide some added gloss to his success.
Forgan shared the title with Chris Smith in 2020, but it was the first time he’d won it outright.
The victory capped a fine season for Forgan in which he was named the PGA in England, East’s ‘trainee of the year’ after Order of Merit triumphs at Oakmere and Colne Valley.
Forgan, 32, said: “It was nice to put two scores together. You just had to really grind it out and keep big numbers off the card, which I sort of did. I didn’t make any doubles. I just made a lot of pars and a couple of birdies.”
