Former Solheim Cup captain Alison Nicholas appointed Head Professional at Redditch Golf Club

Former ladies tour professional and Solheim Cup captain Alison Nicholas has been appointed as the new head teaching professional at Redditch Golf Club in Worcestershire.

Alison, 58, is a PGA-qualified professional who competed on both the Ladies European Tour and on the LPGA Tour in America for 20 years. A six-time member of the European Solheim Cup team, she went on to the captain the team in 2009 and in 2011, successfully leading the team to victory in the latter at Killeen Castle in Ireland.

Alison subsequently began her coaching career in 2006, coaching at golf clubs in the Midlands area and also coaching at county levels both for junior boys and girls and county ladies and girls.

Speaking about her new role at Redditch, she said: “I am very passionate and dedicated to growing the game with our younger members and also enhancing players at all levels.”

Redditch Golf Club was founded in 1913, although it moved to its new home at Callow Hill in 1972, where it boasts an 18-hole parkland/woodland course designed by Frank Pennink.
