Walmley PGA Professional Steve Carter led amateur partner Jamie Slater to victory on countback in the first-ever staging of the Little Aston Foursomes Medal.

The duo ended the day level with three teams, Martin and Chris Poxon (of Chatsworth and Little Aston respectively), Walsall duo Ian Proverbs and Mark Hateley, and Penn GC pairing Mark and Liam Butler.

All four teams completed 36 holes with a nett score of 150.

The leading four PGA Professionals shared the winning prize of £1000, while Slater, a two handicapper, received a voucher for £100 and a dozen balls provided by Titleist.

”What a fantastic event, said Poxon. “It was tough, but it was great to play this format on a course that was in superb condition. I certainly look forward to playing in this next year.”

“I was delighted with the reaction of both the professionals and amateurs to this new event and to the 36 hole medal foursome format,” added Iain Burns, club manager at Little Aston.

“It’s a great leveller and a form of the game that isn’t generally played often enough.”
