Graham Fox and Paul O'Hara (Clydeway Golf Performance Centre) tied for first place with Christopher Currie (Caldwell) in the opening round of the P&H Championship at Dundonald Links.
The 54-hole event, which is being held for the first time, marks the start of the 2014 Tartan Tour.
Former Scottish PGA champion Fox (34-34) and O'Hara (32-36) had seven birdies and three bogeys apiece as they mounted a challenge at the top of the leaderboard.
Currie's highlight in halves of 32-36 was an eagle 3 at the par-5 fifth.
The leading trio are one shot ahead of Bathgate's Louis Gaughan (36-33). The trio finished the day with four-under-par rounds of 68.
Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs (36-33) in a field of 113 competitors. Gaughan had to work hard to make up for a double bogey six at the eighth but he finished with a bag of six birdies, four of them over the last seven holes.
Arnott bogeyed two of the first four holes but covered the last 14 with a bogey-free four under par.
There are prize categories for trainees, club pros and seniors over the first 36 holes.
