Graham Fox won the McDonald Ellon pro-am today with an excellent round of six-under-par 64 in windy conditions. It was his fifth Tartan Tour win of the year and earned him £1,166.
He had eight birdies in his first 13 holes, reaching the turn in five-under-par 32 but his supply of gains stopped at the 13th and he ran up a double bogey at the testing last hole.
The professional course record is 62 but even if Fox had birdied the last hole a 61 would not have been a new record as preferred lies were in operation.
Christopher Currie (Caldwell), with six birdies but bogeys at the fifth and 18th, finished two shots behind Fox with a 66 for second place.
Greig Hutcheon and his "Casa Freedom" trio of amateurs: Kenny Cowe (8), John Garvie (7) and Andrew Penny (4), won the pro-am team event on a better inward half with a 17-under-par total of 123.
