Fraser Mann shot a one-under-par 61 to be the halfway leader in the professional section of the Glencruitten Golf Club 36-hole pro-am at Oban.

Over a course that has 10 par-three holes but no par-fives, Mann, playing out of Carnoustie Golf Club,  birdied the second, fourth, seventh and 18th but dropped shots at the 11th, 12th and 17th.

He leads by a shot from Kenny Walker (Castle Park), making his usual summer return from Thailand to play the Tartan Tour, and Chris Kelly (Cawder).

Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) is one of five players sharing fourth place on one-over-par 62.

Fox threatened to spread-eagle the field over the tricky Glencruitten course when he birdied the second, fourth, sixth and eighth to be four-under the card.

But, astonishingly, Fox then bogeyed five holes in succession from the ninth to the 13th and parred in from the 14th.

Kenny Walker and his 18-handicap partner George MacKenzie won the team event for the first day with a nett score of seven-under-par 55.
