In-form Adam Frayne (Yelverton) made it back-to-back wins in the West with a round of four-under-par 68 at Remedy Oak.
The winner of the Players Championship at Cumberwell Park the previous week shared with Cheltenham’s Russell Berry (Professional Golf Europe Ltd) who won his first West pro-am since success at Cumberwell Park and Minchinhampton two years ago.
Frayne’s only previous successes were in Assistants events last year when he also won a dual county pro-am at Downes Crediton.
Despite successive birdies at the fifth and sixth, he turned in level par but returned with birdies at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 15th in an event sponsored by Kitchen Elegance, Berry looked to be out of contention until he made his only birdie in the back nine at the 16th before landing a vital eagle three at the 509-yard 17th.
Daniel Clark (Remedy Oak) and visiting player Freddy Valenti (Poulton Park) shared third on 69 with Dan Carter (Upavon) fifth a shot behind while locals Lee Thompson (Dudsbury) and Graham Howell (Ferndown Forest) were the only others to break par to share sixth on 70.
Martyn Thompson (Parkstone) led the winning team on 84, a score matched by Craig Gale (Ferndown Forest) and Frayne.
