PGA Members can now sign up to use Sir Clive Woodward’s online coaching tool Captured free of charge.
For the uninitiated Captured is an endless notebook that sits on your phone, laptop and tablet.
Anything that you capture, or in other words upload to the site, can be organised into books and shared with fellow coaches, players or pupils on an individual basis at your own discretion - everything is private unless you specify otherwise.
Woburn’s Daniel Grieve, coach to several Ladies European Tour players and elite amateurs has been among the early adopters of the site, which has also been rolled out to coaches at The FA, London Irish and Reading FC.
“Captured has without doubt made me a better coach in terms of the service I offer to my pupils and by giving me the opportunity to understand my own knowledge in greater detail,” he explained.
“You don’t quite realise just how much knowledge you acquire over your career, but by writing my own book I have been able to pool this all in one place.
Captured is a shared learning platform designed to aid the development of players and coaches. |
It was created from Sir Clive Woodward's coaching philosophy (developed when coaching the 2003 World Cup winning England rugby team). |
The site is an award-winning tool allowing you to capture, evolve and share your knowledge with fellow players and coaches. |
Personal development is at the heart of Captured, allowing an individual or team to create an archive of knowledge from sources such as the internet, coaches and books as well as personal sources. |
The site allows you to securely share and collaborate on your content with your coach or players, enhancing learning and performance. |
Captured supports a full range of multimedia formats, helping your coaching notes become more vivid and engaging. |
“I use it every day without fail, adding new content daily. I go online at night and can check what my pupils have been doing and use the comment function to provide feedback.
“From a student’s perspective the benefits are huge. The pupils I use Captured with have an archive of every lesson they have had with notes, photos, videos and practice plans all on their Captured App which they can access wherever and whenever they want.”
The platform has experienced incredible success since launch, starting the year in earnest by taking the gong for Best Technology for Managers and Coaches at the 2015 Sports Technology Awards.
Each organisation has their own private space, and this will be replicated for PGA Professionals who will gain access to a page containing resources to aid their career development.
The service also comes with a companion app for iOS and Android and a web clipper for your browser, so you can upload items while you’re away from your desk or share websites at the touch of a button from your PC.
