Hagley Golf Club’s Simon Gabbitas birdied the last hole to win the Worcestershire Stroke Play Championship at North Worcestershire.
His exploits on the difficult 18th helped him card a final round three-under-par 66 to beat Iain Clark by a stroke.
Clark had shared the lead after the first 18 holes with James Leaver (Ravenmeadow) matching his one-over-par 70 - the duo two ahead of Gabbitas, Jamie Hillier (Gay Hill) and Tom Warbrick (The Vale).
While Clark added a second 70 to set the club house target on two over Gabbitas snatched victory by a stroke with a birdie on the final hole.
The registered trainees competition run in conjunction with the main event resulted a three way tie between Ben Sorrill (Hagley), Sean Strudley (Abbey Hotel) and, last year's winner of both events, Tom Warbrick who all carded totals of 149.
