Galvin Green is promoting its association with the PGA Assistants’ Championship this year under the hashtag #NextGeneration and with the support of YouTube sensation and PGA Professional Peter Finch.

The leading premium technical performance brand is sponsoring the event for the third consecutive year, with young professionals encouraged to join in the social media engagement right up to the final at Coxmoor Golf Club, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, in August.

As well as posting about the championship and its long history to more than 120,000 followers, Finch, a Galvin Green brand ambassador, will present the trophy to the 2017 winner after more than 100 competitors contest the 54-hole final.

Each competition finalist will receive a coveted Galvin Green garment, while the winners at the seven PGA regional qualifying events gain special recognition with another garment.

“Galvin Green is supporting the next generation of PGA Professionals like never before and our plans for this year reflect our commitment,” said Greg Pearse, managing director of Galvin Green (UK & Ireland).

“Peter Finch is the embodiment of everything that young PGA Assistants should aspire to be and I’m delighted he’s supporting the event.”

Commenting on his role, Finch said: “I’m honoured to be asked to support the championship and I hope to encourage not just the winner, but all the young participants following a career in golf which is both fun and very rewarding.”

Having proved a social media success last year, Galvin Green Ventil8™ shirts will once again be awarded to individual overnight leaders in the final to wear during the following round. This includes a new yellow shirt to be worn on the last day in the style of a Tour de France leader.

Mark McDonnell, director at Modest! Golf Management, will also be in attendance at the final to watch the young professionals in action, after his agency recently entered a relationship with Galvin Green involving the signing of Italian prodigy Guido Migliozzi.

The 2017 PGA Assistants’ champion will receive a year-long clothing deal as part of Team Galvin Green. He or she will also qualify for the PGA Play-Offs and Australian PGA Assistants Championship.

Participants should register for the Championship by 12 April. Details of the regional qualifiers can be found here.
