Gardner takes honours

14/10/2013

Barnham Broom assistant Matthew Gardner won the Norfolk PGA Pro-Am at Weston Park with round of two-over-par 74.

This was a good score on a day of short sharp showers and gusts of wind up to 40mph. Conditions were so testing that runner-up Craig Graver (Marriott Sprowston Manor) signed for 76 and third-placed Mark Allen of Eaton scored 79.

There was a runaway team success for Graver, Josh Halliday, Gary Stuttard and Kevin Jefferies with eight-under-par 136. Gardner, Les Gardner, Richard Phillips and Gareth Motteram were runners-up with 142.

Allen, with his ladies’ team of Sharon Allen, Sue Morris and Kay Bailey were third with 144.

Halliday won the prize for nearest the pin and Kay Bailey had the longest drive.
