Gaughan wins Bernard Gallacher trophy

Assistant professional Louis Gaughan (Bathgate) carded a super five-under-par 65 with six birdies before the turn to head a field of 101 players and win the Bernard Gallacher Trophy at the Edinburgh and East of Scotland Alliance event at Royal Musselburgh.

First man out Uphall professional Gordon Law had set the pace with a three-under-par 67 and was followed at the midway point by another 67 via Lloyd Saltman (Archerfield).

It was late in the day that Gaughan came in to demote the clubhouse leaders and claim the top prize.
