An exciting opportunity as team leader has arisen for someone to spearhead the British Golf Association’s (BGA) bid for medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The BGA, which is advertising the role, is the golf body affiliated to the British Olympic Association (BOA) and oversees all golfing matters relating to golf and the Olympics.
The Association is a joint venture between golf’s governing bodies in England, Scotland and Wales as well as the Professional Golfers’ Association and they are seeking a candidate for the position with proven leadership skills, experience of playing elite level golf and knowledge of performance golf.
The Team GB role will require the post holder to be the point of contact with the BOA for all golf related issues for Rio 2016.

Team Leader Golf – 2016 Rio Olympics
The British Golf Association (BGA) is the golf body affiliated to the British Olympic Association and oversees all golfing matters relating to the golf and the Olympics. The Association is a joint venture between golf’s governing bodies in England, Scotland and Wales as well as the Professional Golfers Association.
One of the key elements of the BGA’s role is to appoint an appropriate Team Leader for golf at the 2016 Rio Olympics (“Rio 2016”). We are therefore looking for applications from suitably qualified people to fulfil this role. The role is voluntary with all appropriate expenses paid.
You should have proven leadership skills, be a strong communicator and be well organised for this key role. Experience of playing elite level golf and knowledge of performance golf, as well as knowledge of and interest in the Olympics, is desirable. You must be able to both work within a team and work independently as and when necessary.
Reporting to the BGA Board and ultimately the BOA, the role will require the post holder to:
• Be the point of contact with the BOA for all golf related issues for Rio 2016.
• Attend recces, workshops and planning sessions as part of the BOA Rio 2016 Team Leader Journey (see details attached).
• Make all performance decisions in relation to the golf delegation within Team GB
• Plan all the logistics (including travel and accommodation requirements) for the golf delegation within Team GB;
• Communicate BOA policies and procedures for Rio 2016 to all prospective team members;
• Operate as the Golf Team Leader during Rio 2016 ; and
• Keep the BGA Board up to date with all plans for Rio 2016.
You will work alongside the BOA and other sport Team Leaders to fulfil these functions and liaise with the BGA Board as required.
