All throughout the first Women's PGA Cup, Captain Tracy Loveys will be providing a daily update from inside the Great Britain & Ireland camp at Barton Creek Resort in Austin Texas.
Another great day of weather out here in Austin, Texas up around to 29 degrees, but we’ve learnt that could change over the next couple of days.
There’s the potential of thunder storms during round one (Thursday) but the temperature could still up around 29 degrees.
Friday’s original forecast was for rain all day but that has now changed to showers in the morning however, there is going to be a sharp drop in the temperature by around 10 degrees. It’s going to be just like home!
The course is playing great, and so are the team, but should it rain it’s going to make a difference to the course for sure.
We’ve had a little bit of drama with one our team members. Maria Tulley sustained an injury to her thumb during a warm up practice. She battled through the pain and swelling to her hand and forearm for 14 holes, but decided that a trip to the nearest physio was the best thing to do. She returned later in the day with tape from her wrist to her elbow. Much to the amusement of the rest of the team, the tape used had ‘USA’ written all over it however, she was feeling much better and positive that it would fine to play.
Tulley decided not to put too much pressure on her thumb on day two of practice but joined the team out on the course to practice her chipping and putting. But, whilst stood beside me by one of the greens, she got stung by a dragonfly on her other thumb! She felt instant pain and swelling this time- poor girl!
She’s been through the wars these last two days but she is okay now and she will give it everything she can over the next three days for team Great Britian & Ireland.
Thursday is round one of the tournament and the girls are raring to get going. Bring it on!
