Promote Training have launched their latest eLearning course entitled “Generating Membership Leads”.

This new course, available to study now via the Online Courses section of PGA.info (or via this link), focuses on core strategies that golf clubs need to adopt in order to target prospective new golf club members. It’s a subject of increasing importance to plenty of UK golf venues, with memberships at many clubs falling.

Split into seven sections, the eLearning course covers many different subjects and practices critical to attracting potential new members.

  • Section 1 - Membership Leads
  • Section 2 – Data Collection
  • Section 3 – Appraising Your Existing Membership
  • Section 4 – Member Referrals
  • Section 5 – Marketing in the Community
  • Section 6 – Membership Promotions
  • Section 7 – Marketing

It’s a subject that David Reeves, co-founder of Promote Training, has passionate views on.

“Having worked as a General Manager at a number of different golf clubs myself, there are undoubtedly best-practices within this course that are sure to work across the industry but are rarely used. Data collection, for instance, is something that many clubs are often poor at. This course gives practical advice on how you can collect contact information from ALL visitors to the club and why this data is so important to canvassing new memberships.”

David continues,

“Member referrals are something that the golf industry should be well-versed in, yet many clubs still don’t offer a regularly changing and well communicated referral programme. You only have to look at the health club industry to see what golf clubs are missing out on. Over 40% of new health club members are from referrals and from my experience this can absolutely be replicated in golf clubs as well. And the great thing about referrals are that they’re terrific for retention too.”

Promote Training’s latest educational offering also looks at how golf clubs can overcome many of the poor perceptions that non-golfers have of both the sport of golf and golf club venues. The “Marketing in the Community” section shares ideas on how a club can pro-actively engage with their local audience, through community participation, and portray a welcoming and accessible image.

Commenting on the course Michael Abbott, Member Education Executive at The PGA, says,

“The Member Education Programme offered by The PGA gives many opportunities for our members to pursue their own professional development. This new offering by Promote Training is a valuable addition to our library of learning opportunities. It can be accessed via the members section of The PGA website and awards 50 CPD points on successful completion.”

The course is aimed at Club Managers, Directors of Golf, Club Professionals and any personnel responsible for new member recruitment. It uses the company’s innovative eLearning platform, takes up to 25 hours to complete and can be studied in any location and at the delegate’s own pace.

Normally priced at £195, PGA members receive the preferential fee of £145, which includes full access to all materials, personal tutor support and certification fees.
