Gill and Sadler win at Newquay

Home professional Chris Gill shared top place with Richard Sadler (Killiow) at the Cornwall Professional Golfers’ Alliance meeting at Newquay.

Both men negotiated the cliff-top course in level par 72 to hold a two-shot advantage over Ross Whitelock (St Mellion) with Antony Nash (St Enodoc) and Richard O'Hanlon (The Point Polzeath) a further stroke behind on a dry day after early rain in a field of 82 players.

Home amateurs Ashley Fieldhouse and Clive Bicknell took the team award with 42 points with countback deciding the next three places.
