Gill homes in at Newquay

Chris Gill made home advantage count by winning the Cornwall Professional Golfers Alliance meeting in heavy rain at Newquay.

An early starter playing in the worst of the conditions he scored 35 points, one better than Alliance vice-captain Dan Wood (Ivy Leaf) in a field of 52.

Grant Slater (Trevose) was third on 33, two better than Josh Hancock (Newquay) and Scott Richards (Truro).

Wood and amateur Dale Howarth (Ivy Leaf) won the pairs with 41 points, followed one shot behind by Slater and Dave Holland (Falmouth) and John Sanders and Jimmy Foy (China Fleet).
