Donal Gleeson ensured there was a sting in the tail at the inaugural Ballykisteen Pro-Am sponsored by Pierse Motors.
The Old Conna professional, who was stung by bees while playing the 11th, fired a six under par 66 to finish one shot ahead of Ballybunion's Duncan Purcell at the Des Smyth designed course in Co Tipperary.
In-form Cian McNamara, Neil O'Briain, Colm Moriarty and Damien Mooney finished joint third on four under par.
Gleeson produced a flawless opening nine holes, going to the turn in four under 32 with birdies at the third, fourth, seventh and ninth.
Another birdie followed at the 10th, before a set-back at the 11th when he dropped a shot after his encounter with the bees but he finished with two more birdies at the 15th and 18th.
