Jordan Godwin and Ben Daniels are determined to make up for last year’s ‘disaster’ when they bid to return to the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship final.
Godwin, right, of Kent’s Barnehurst Golf Club, and Ben Daniels, representing Bletchingley Golf Club in Surrey, finished third in last year’s showpiece event held at St Mellion in Cornwall.
But Godwin felt they could have won the title after a disappointing second round.
Now they have teamed up again and will be taking part in the South qualifying event which is being held at Woodcote Park Golf Club in Coulsden on Monday, July 27.
They will be looking to seal a place in the £35,000 SkyCaddie & BMW supported grand final at Carden Park in Cheshire between August 12-14.
Godwin admits he and Daniels have made this event one of their priorities this year - so determined are they to make up for their performance 12 months ago.
“We definitely want to try and go at least one step further,” said Godwin.
“When we played in the final last year, we thought we could have won.
“We had an opening round of 66 but then shot a level-par 72 which was a disaster.
“After that, we shot 64 in the third round and ended up just three shots off the lead.
“So we really want to go back to the final and try to do better.
“In fact, I’ll be missing a round of the Europro Tour to play in the qualifying event.”
Godwin believes he and Daniels make a good combination and are capable of impressing again in the final.
“I found I was meeting up with Ben at various tournaments and we became good friends as a result,” he said.
“We gel well together on the course and can both hit the ball a long way. This event works really well for us.”
Also taking part at Woodcote Park will be: Wraith Grant and Michael O'Brien (Woodcote Park Golf Club); Bruce Loome and David Cook (Oxford Golf Centre): Thomas Obergan and John Clarke (Berkhamsted Golf Club); Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) and Martyn Thompson (Parkstone Golf Club) and England Simon Shepherd and Dominic Chincharo (Addington Court Golf Club)
