Leading golf holiday firm, Golfbreaks.com has strengthened its ties with The PGA by becoming an official partner and also agreeing to sponsor its popular PGA Fourball Championship.

The Windsor-based company has already forged a mutually beneficial working relationship with grass roots PGA Professionals across the UK & Ireland who regularly take tuition and social parties to resorts across the UK and Europe.

Its three-year headline sponsorship of the long-running fourball tournament will encompass seven regional qualifiers and a 54-hole grand final which will again be staged at the Lincoln golf resort of Forest Pines in October.

Another longstanding PGA Partner BMW will become the support sponsor for the £30,000 tournament which retains enduring attraction for PGA Members with more than 500 competing each year.

The Golfbreaks.com agreement cements an already strong relationship which started in 2008 when it became an official supplier and has since seen the company’s dedicated Golf Pro Relations department help thousands of PGA pros to arrange profitable trips across the world.

PGA Chief Executive Sandy Jones welcomed the announcement, commenting: “The fourball championship is one of the most popular on the PGA schedule, enabling our members to not only compete which they love doing but also offering them a rare opportunity to team up with old friends and colleagues in a shared passion.

“While it is tremendous news for the event that Golfbreaks.com have agreed to sponsor it for three years, I am also delighted they have joined The PGA’s successful partner programme.

“Many PGA Members already work closely with Golfbreaks.com in taking groups of golfers to some of the best golfing destinations in the UK and Europe and we hope this sponsorship will prove successful for all parties.”

Steve Hemsworth, Managing Director of Golfbreaks.com, added: “We are delighted to have become a PGA Partner as well as sponsoring one of the flagship tournaments for its members.

“The agreement confirms our long-standing commitment to working with PGA Professionals and we look forward to helping PGA members develop golf travel as a viable new business opportunity that can supplement their traditional income stream.”
