GolfMark boost for Bedford

A PGA pro who runs golf taster sessions for adults and a thriving junior section has helped his club gain England Golf’s prestigious GolfMark status.
Sam Smith, head pro at the Bedford Golf Club, regularly runs Get in to Golf and Get Back Into Golf adult group sessions with junior coaching for children aged four to 18 taking place at the weekends.
“It is fantastic for our golf club and junior academy to be recognised in this way,” said Smith.
“I look forward to introducing even more new golfers to this fun and sociable game - which actively promotes respect and life skills - and welcoming them to our inclusive club.”
The national GolfMark scheme recognises golf facilities following rigorous assessment of the club’s coaching and playing, club environment, sports equity and ethics and child protection procedures.
The forthcoming National Golf Month in May will also provide numerous additional opportunities at the club ranging from the Learn Golf In A Month programme to the Get Ready For Summer refresher courses.
