Sian Evans put her injury problems behind her at WPGA One Day series sixth round at South Herts Golf Club.

Evans, of Kent’s Kings Hill Golf Club, finished as joint top professional with Danielle Anderson (Wentworth Club).

Both players carded a one-under-par round of 73 at the Barnet venue in an event which was won by Bishop’s Stortford teenager Rebecca Earl representing England Golf who carded an impressive round of 70.

But Evans and Anderson’s performance have set up an exciting finale to the One Day Series which is being staged at Three Rivers Golf Club in Essex.

The series is currently being led by Staffordshire player Katrina Holford (Chase Golf Club) who finished on level-par at South Herts and Evans is now determined to finish the season on a high.

“I’m pleased with my performance at South Herts as this is my first year back after injury,” said the first year assistant PGA Professional.

“I damaged my wrist while playing in America where I was at college in Tennessee for four years.

“I hit a tree root while playing a shot, it was on the fairway as well!

“At first it didn’t seem too serious but it was and it kept me out for six months, so it’s good to come back and start playing well again.”

Evans, who coaches at Kings Hill as part of the Rob Rock Academy, now intends to build on that performance.

“I’ll definitely be at Three Rivers,” she said. “It’d be good to get a high finish in the WPGA Order of Merit, it wasn’t something that I’d been thinking of until now.

“I want to be playing more and would like to get on to the Women’s Tour eventually if I can.”
