Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin and Sherdons Golf Centre assistant pro Josh Davies both shot 69 to share the G&S PGA Medal honours at Brean Golf Club.
It was Goodwin’s second shared medal success of the season on the back of his three birdie, three bogey round.
The new layout at the north Somerset course proved a serious test for the professionals, particularly the 583-yard par five 12th which yielded just one birdie all day.
Third place went to Ashley Mansell thanks to his five birdie round of 70. After four events Mansell tops the Total Triumph Order of Merit with Goodwin in second place.
Three players tied for fourth on 71 including Chipping Sodbury’s Giuseppe Licata, Kendleshire amateur Spencer Vickery and Brean Pro and G&S chairman Andrew March.
The next event on the schedule moves back into Gloucestershire at Chipping Sodbury next week for the fifth instalment of the winter season.
