Stephen Gray (Hayston) and home-course pro Stewart Savage tied for first place with four-under-par rounds of 64 to win £1,114 each in the West Dunbarstonshire Council pro-am at the Dalmuir municipal course.
Savage could, in fact, have won the first prize outright. He birdied the first, fifth, sixth, seventh, 10th and 12th but then came off the rails with bogeys at the 13th and 18th.
Gray birdied the first, second, fifth, eighth and 16th and had only one bogey, at the short 14th.
At the top of a crowded leaderboard, Gray and Savage finished a shot ahead of joint third place Greg McBain, now playing out of Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, and Graeme Brown (Montrose Links) who earned £650 apiece.
McBain had four twos on his card – eagles at the second and 10th and birdies at the 12th and 15th.
Brown piloted the West Dunbartonshire Council Greenspace team No 2 to victory in the pro-am event with a net score of 15-under-par 53. The amateurs, with their handicaps, were Stephen Nicholson (14), Alan Weir (5) and Kenny Donnachie (14).
