Hambling ambles to victory

The first full event of 2016 was played at Woodbridge Golf Club with an almost record field of Essex golfers eager to experience the ‘dry’ fairways of Suffolk.

It turned out to be a clean sweep for Steve Hambling from Braintree Golf Club who won the professional event with an impressive three-under-par 67 which was good enough to win by four shots.

Runner-up was Porsche Order of Merit leader Lloyd Kennedy from Woolston Manor with 71 and joint third on two over par 72 were Steve Cipa from South Essex Golf Centre, Chris Goddard from Romford Golf Club and Mark Bishop from Toot Hill.

Hambling completed his day by taking the Pro-Am with his team of Paul Buchan, Sean Kelly and Paul Moreton who won by one point with an excellent score of 84 points (12-under-par).
