Haslam maintains the winning habit

Holly Haslam ended July in the same manner as she began it – by leaving an accomplished and experienced field of WPGA members in her slipstream at Redditch Golf Club.

The Year Two trainee from Stock Brook Manor Golf & Country Club, Essex, followed up her victory in the WPGA Women’s PGA Assistants’ Championship at Goswick Links by winning the latest WPGA Stroke Play tournament at the Worcestershire venue.

The Assistants’ Championship had been run in tandem with the WPGA Women’s PGA Championship and the 23-year-old’s three-over par return for 36-holes proved the best in both events and eclipsed those of some seasoned campaigners.

Likewise at Redditch where, in carding a one-under par total of 72, she finished a shot clear of four-time WPGA Championship winner Heather MacRae and five ahead of Holly Morgan, the reigning champion.

Haslam’s victory also elevated her to fifth in the Order of Merit which has a new leader in Get Golfing CIO’s Heather Stirling who, thanks to finishing tied-third with Ormskirk Golf Club’s Ali Gray on one-over, displaced Morgan in pole position.

Her advantage is a slender one, however as he heads her rival from Lindrick Golf Club by just a quarter of a point.
