PGA professionals are being urged to help shape the vision for golf in England by having their say in forging a new and ambitious strategic plan for the sport.
England Golf, which is tasked with nurturing the sport at grass roots level and upwards, is calling on PGA pros to take part in an online survey (here) aimed at fine-tuning the next steps for golf.
PGA coaches already play a vital part in orchestrating taster and introductory sessions within County Golf Partnership as well as taking players up and through the ranks with academy programmes.
The draft stragetic plan (which can be viewed here) is being developed in consultation with the many stakeholders that make up England Golf including The PGA and in the first phase of consultation there were more than 500 responses made via the survey.
The responses showed overwhelming support for the development of this plan but England Golf are keen to obtain the views of PGA pros who will play such a key role in delivering it through their coaching skill and expertise.
Jonathan Wright, The PGA’s coach education and development manager for England, commented: “England Golf is currently undertaking the development of a new and ambitious strategic plan, which will enable us to build on the recent merger, deliver the outcomes within the Whole Sport Plan agreement with Sport England and build on the excellent work which is taking place to develop golf at all levels all around the country.
“It will address some of the challenges the sport is facing and present ways to maximise some of the opportunities that are also in front of us so it is important we get as much feedback as we can from the hundreds of PGA pros that play a pivotal role in implementing the plan.”
Feedback from the electronic survey so far reveals that 94 per cent of respondents felt it was important or very important for there to be a single plan for England Golf while 89 per cent said they were likely or very likely to play a role in its delivery.
