PGA champion and PGA Cup winner Paul Hendriksen (Ivybridge) continued his best season in the West by sharing top place with James Ruth (China Fleet) in the Devon PGA medal at Stover.
But he is still pondering over two holes that cost an outright victory in an event that featured all the top players in Devon and Cornwall.
After speeding to six-under-par after ten holes victory seemed assured but he dropped successive shots on the par three 13th and par five 14th to finish on four-under 66.
This allowed the resourceful Ruth to chalk up yet another victory in his outstanding season. Ruth, the West’s leading money winner, also made six birdies and dropped two shots in halves of 32 and 34.
Tom Jessamine (Woodbury Park) has shown great promise this year and shared third on 71 with James Pickard (Honiton) and former Devon star Duncan Giblett, now based at West Surrey Golf Club.
Jonny Rattenbury (Okehampton) led the winning team on 81 beating both Ross Troake (Stover) and James Maxwell (Teign Valley) on countback.
