Late starter Paul Hendriksen produced the round of the day to win the SWAS and Trewarthas Pro-Am at Trethorne.
His superb four-under-par 67 denied St Mellion’s James Ruth, fresh from his triumph in the PGA West Region Championship the previous day, his third success in three weeks since electing to play regional golf.
He started like a hare from the gate, picking up shots at the fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth and tenth to be five-under-par. One dropped shot at the 13th marred an otherwise flawless round.
It was his fifth win of the year following his maiden Race to Woodbury Park win. He also came top at St Mellion, Tavistock, and Salisbury.
The Dinnaton man said: “I putted really well and could have scored even lower.”
Early-leader Ruth dropped a shot at the second, drew level with a four at the fifth and moved into red figures with an eagle three at the 14th. Every other hole was played in par.
An eagle three at the 14th enabled Chris Gill (Newquay) to share second with Ruth. He achieved his best finish since his fourth place at Downes Crediton. It was only his fourth top-five finish of the season.
Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) shared fourth with Christian Vine (Woodbury Park) after an up-and-down par round of 71 that comprised ten pars, an eagle at three, three birdies, three bogeys and one double.
Falmouth’s Nick Rogers ended his four-day golfing trip by leading the KCS Print team of Simon Schofield, Colin Kipp and Andrew Dance to team success on 11-under-par 131.
Home pro Mark Boundy and the M and M Plant team of John Nicholls, Nigel Hurst and Neil Beswetherick were one behind with the SAS and Trewarthas team of Duchy College pupils Ross Wellington, Tom Valentine and Kieran Older, led by Trevose pro Grant Slater, third on 133.
