Here comes the sun

Europe’s biggest pro-am is heading to Portugal as one of the hottest events on the PGA’s national tournament schedule promises to get a whole lot warmer.

The Pestana Golf & Resort at Vila Sol will play host to the Lombard Trophy in Association with Coca-Cola on September 22-23.

This year’s championship will see both a men’s and women’s event over two days in the Portuguese sun and is open to entries from golf clubs across Great Britain & Ireland.

Clubs can qualify for the final through 16 regional events at prestigious clubs across the British Isles such as Little Aston, Fulford and the K Club.

Last year’s event was held at 2014 Ryder Cup venue Gleneagles and won by the Channels Golf Club pairing of Jason Levermore and Ben Steed.
