Higgins and Moriarty come out on top at Rosslare

David Higgins (Waterville Links) and Colm Moriarty (Glasson Hotel & CC) put on a shot-making exhibition to lead the way at the Rosslare Pro-Am.

The pair finished the tournament on six under par, two shots clear of third-placed Simon Thornton (Tulfarris Golf Resort).

With a shot-gun start in operation, Moriarty got his round underway at the par-five 18th with a birdie, the first of eight on his card. The Glasson professional went through nine holes in one under par with bogeys at the second and fourth setting him back but he came to life over the closing stretch, collecting four birdies in six holes to finish on six under.

Higgins also got his round underway with a birdie at his opening hole, the par-five third. The Waterville professional played his opening nine holes in two under par. He was more clinical over his closing nine holes, adding four further birdies with no dropped shots.

Moriarty also claimed the team prize, guiding amateur partners Boyd Scott, John Benton and Ed Benton to victory with 93pts.
