Hillier rises to the challenge

James Hillier (Hollywood) carded rounds of 67 and 71 to win the PGA in Worcestershire Strokeplay Championship at Droitwich Golf Club.

The course, where European Tour player John Bickerton learned his skills, was in excellent condition with 23 members competing.

It proved a tough test with only two scores under the par of 70 recorded.

Hillier’s round proved a rollercoaster affair with nine birdies, five bogies and one double bogey.

Hagley’s Simon Gabbitas had rounds of 73 and 67 to finish second with Iain Clark, also of Hagley, third three shots back after 73 and 70.
