Alastair Archibald made his local knowledge pay with victory in the Hadley Wood Pro-Am.
The head PGA Professional at the Hertfordshire club shot a four-under-par 68 to beat Ian Ellis (Great Yarmouth & Caister) and Jason Levermore (Little Channels Golf Centre) by a shot.
Archibald was first out early in the morning and birdied the opening par-5. He advanced to two-under at the third.
A bogey at the fourth was soon shrugged off as Archibald picked up a couple more strokes to turn in three-under.
He got it to five-under through 14 before a slip-up at the next. But he closed out withut any further problems and then watched on to see if his clubhouse target could be matched or bettered.
Ellis came closest, reaching four-under with two to play – but he bogeyed his closing hole. Levermore played near faultless golf, not dropping a stroke all day.
Laurence Allen (Verulam), Ray Russell (Centurion) and Steven Hambling (Braintree) all shared fourth spot, thanks to rounds of 70.
James Jones (Hertfordshire G&CC) led the winning team on a total of 130 – one better than four quartets.
