David Hawkins (Wanstead) and Neil Mitchell (Ipswich Golf Centre) shared the spoils after a day of fluctuating fortunes at the Ely City Pro-Am.
Mitchell appeared to be on course for victory after a blistering front nine that saw him five-under-par at the turn.
He moved to six-under with another birdie at the 13th but faltered with a double-bogey at the next.
Mitchell was still set for success stood on the final tee before a late dropped shot saw him slip to three-under alongside Hawkins.
Hawkins enjoyed a smooth back nine, carding three birdies to ensure his progression to the summit.
It looked as if it may end up as three-way tie at the top as Mark Talbott (Thorpe Hall) was also three-under playing the 424-yard par-4 18th .
But he, like Mitchell, made a damaging late bogey and fell back into a share of third spot alongside Chris Cutchie (Colchester).
Jonny Sharkey (Links, Newmarket) led the winning team on a total of 131 – one better than the quartet headed by James Webber (The Rayleigh Club).
