Honours shared at Harpenden Common

Andy Clapp and Lee Fickling, above, were the star acts throughout an enthralling day’s play in the annual Burton Cup event at Harpenden Common.

Both men, who represent Brickendon Grange and Bush Hill Park respectively, took a share of the winners pot, signing for rounds of two-under-par 68 in the Hertfordshire PGA pro-am.

One shot behind were Paul Hetherington (Great Hadham Golf and Country Club), Bobby Mitchell (South Herts) and James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City).

The Burton Cup was won by Bush Hill Park’s team of Fickling, Rob Stoddart and David Krause with 86 Stableford points. Runners-up were Clapp, Dennis Bear and Dennis Edsmythe with 83 points. The Berkhamsted team was third with 82 points.
