Chris Currie (Caldwell) shot a course record, eight-under-par 62  to win the £1,192 first prize in the 30th Portpatrick Dunskey pro-am on Saturday.

Currie's scorecard included an eagle 2 at the par-4 14th and seven birdies (the second, third, fifth, ninth, 13th, 17th and 18th) in halves of 32 and 30.

He did have one bogey, at the eighth, but it did not matter because he still had a shot to spare over runner-up Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle Golf Academy) who earned £953.

Forsyth too had an eagle, but it was a 3 at the par-5 third. He also birdied the eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th and 16th, being seven under par for the nine holes from the eighth to the 16th inclusive.

Joint third on 64 were Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills), Greig Hutcheon (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Inchmarlo) and Neil Fenwick (Dunbar). McKechnie had a bag of eight birdies, while Hutcheon and Fenwick had seven apiece.

Andrew Marshall (Houston Golf Range) led the "Crown Hotel" team of amateurs - Craig Currie (handicap 12), Gareth Cole (11) and Alastair Baillie (12) - to victory in the team event with a total of 118. They won on a countback from Chris Currie's "Still Game and a Boy" team who also totalled 118.
