Henbury assistant Michael Hunt won his first Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal with the only sub-par round of the day at Naunton Downs.
His 69 earned a two-stroke win over his fellow Henbury assistant Luke Derrick and Enmore Park amateur Matt Kippen in difficult conditions in the Cotswolds
Scotsman Hunt’s round was boosted by four successive birdies from the ninth after eight pars. Although he dropped two late shots he maintained a comfortable lead. Derrick made two birdies while Kippen added five.
Bristol Golf Centre’s Alex Munro’s made a rare appearance to finish fourth on 72. He finished three clear of the Cirencester duo of Ed Goodwin and Mark Plummer who split the final prize money.
Goodwin took full advantage of the long-time Total Triumph Order of Merit leader Giuseppe Licata’s absence to jump ahead and build a 12 point advantage with George Ryall (Worlebury) third with seven medals remaining.
