Royal Winchester’s Head PGA Professional Steven Hunter warmed up nicely for Senior PGA Professional Championship in May, tying for victory in the JSP Construction Industry Charity Pro-Am at Foxhills.
The PGA in Hampshire Captain shared the winners’ spoils with Leatherhead’s Michael Lowe, both shooting cards of six-under-par 67 over the Surrey resort’s Bernard Hunt course.
Their haul of six birdies each edged the five-under-par 68s of five other players into third place: Richard Tinworth (Tinworth Ltd), Simon McGreal (Bradfield College), Craig Sutherland (DCGS Poult Wood), James Ford (Left Handed Golf at Silvermere) and James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent).
Although the Lighthouse Club charity was the real winner on the day, the winners of the team event were Geason Training, inspired by Ford to a score of 91 points, two clear of the teams from Morgan Sindall and Balfour Beatty.
PGA South Regional Manager Sam Smith commented: “Playing with a PGA Professional certainly increases the attraction of a corporate golf day, and this particular format is a great way for everyone to enjoy their day to the max and add value to the whole event.”
Smith continued: “Similar to our own PGA Benevolent Fund that supports PGA Members, the Lighthouse Club supports the construction industry, and provides them with a first point of contact for those who need to access a range of free of charge, completely confidential support services.
"Having now supported Lighthouse Club for over 10 years, I’m glad The PGA can continue to help such a worthy cause.”
