Ahead of the 2025 season, please find below more information regarding the Q-Series, the Senior PGA Professional Championship and the PGA Super 60s Championship – including details of the resulting opportunities to qualify for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship and Legends Tour Q-School.
Q-Series Update
With the Legends Tour withdrawing their financial contribution to the series , running what was the multi-event Staysure Q-Series has become financially unsustainable. As a result, it has now been condensed into a single 36-hole qualifier, held at Royal Ascot Golf Club on May 22-23.
On a positive note, we have worked closely with Legends Tour to ensure the continuation of significant playing opportunities on the Legends Tour and we thank them for their continued support in that regard.
This means that as well as the £20,000 prize fund, the Royal Ascot tournament provides PGA Members with the opportunity to qualify for the Legends Tour’s flagship event, the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, taking place at Trump International Golf Links in July – with the top 2 finishers securing a place in the field alongside the likes of Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam and Jose Maria Olazabal.
Those who miss out on qualification for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship but still have ambitions to compete on the Legends Tour in the future can do so by entering through its Q-School to earn Legends Tour playing rights for the season. Last month, PGA Members Matthew Cort and David Shacklady did just that, securing their cards for 2025.
Senior PGA Professional Championship
Taking place the week before Royal Ascot, the Senior PGA Professional Championship continues to be one of the premier events for senior Members, offering a platform to compete at an elite level.
After the success and popularity of last year’s event, the 2025 edition will be held at Moor Park Golf Club from May 14-16, with plenty for Members to play for.
The prize fund has been increased by 20% from £40,000 to £50,000 and there are 15 places in the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International Golf Links up for grabs.
PGA Super 60s Championship
Rounding out the senior tournament programme is the PGA Super 60s Championship, which offers a more relaxed and social competition for senior Members and an amateur playing partner.
Held at the Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Country Club from August 13-14, this event brings senior Members together for two days of action in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. It remains a highly anticipated event each year for those looking to compete at a high level but in a less formal setting.
Commenting on the 2025 senior schedule, Richard Barker, PGA Executive Director – Business Development, said: “We recognise the importance of meaningful playing opportunities for our senior PGA Members and this year’s schedule of event – set against a challenging financial backdrop – reflects our ongoing focus on supporting Members over the age of 50.
“With increased prize funds, renowned venues and the chances to qualify for the Staysure PGA Senior Champions as well as the Legends Tour itself, we would encourage all eligible Members to take part and seize these opportunities. We would also encourage Members to consider the Member Tournament Sponsor Referral initiative which could also introduce sponsors who wish to be involved with senior golf.”
