Tom Clements (Eaton) bagged eight birdies at Swaffham as he surged to a first ever PGA in England (East) triumph.
Clements, 23, was in sparkling form, twice putting together three birdies on the spin in building a five-under-par 66. That score was good enough for a two-shot victory from Noel Quinn (Whipsnade Park).
Clements was off to a flyer, picking up a stroke at the first. And he signed off his front nine by making gains at three straight holes from the seventh.
There was the odd setback along the way but Clements was always quick to recover. Another birdie hat-trick from the 13th all but sealed the deal and he could even afford the luxury of a dropped shot at the last.
Quinn recorded his own trio of birdies from the 15th to ensure sole possession of second spot. Two shots behind him in third spot was Ben Kerr (Bourn Golf & Leisure).
Phil Abbott’s quartet were convincing winners of the team event on a tally of 125.
