James Freeman won his second successive tournament in The PGA in England and Wales (North) when he captured the Assistants' Championship of Yorkshire at Ilkley.

In testing conditions, the 32-year-old former England amateur international was the only player to match the par of 69 thanks to an eagle at the sixth and three birdies in the opening nine holes.

He finished a shot in front of Bedlingtonshire's Matthew Webb and Oliver Whiteley, from Bramall Park.

Five weeks ago Freeman, from Owston Hall, prevailed in the Druh Belts Assistants' Shootout at Cookridge Hall which had been held over from last year when the weather intervened.
