Jase the ace

Jason Groat (Denver) compiled a flawless round of 69 to win the Wanstead Pro-Am by a shot.

He made three birdies and 15 pars in finishing at three-under-par, one better than Jason Levermore (Little Channels).

Groat was the final player to tee off and soon made his mark with a birdie at the second hole.

He turned in two-under and picked up another stroke with a telling two at the short 15th.

Levermore got to two-under himself with a birdie at the 17th but a par at the last meant he had to be satisfied with second spot.

Michael Vandenberg (Rochford Hundred) was third on even par, while Jason Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City) was a stroke further back in fourth place.
