Fryatt storms to victory

Johnnie Fryatt, head professional at Thorpe Hall, claimed a hard-earned victory in The PGA of Essex Winter League meeting at South Essex Golf Club.

Fryatt’s three-over-par round of 71 included three birdies, taking him one shot clear of runner-up Mark Stokes of Rayleigh Golf Range. John Judd (Centre Golf Hartswood) and Sam Teer (Clacton) shared third place with rounds of 74. Danny Hill (West Essex) was fifth with 75.

Steve Cipa (South Essex) leads the Essex PGA Winter League order of merit with nine points. Fryatt and Mark Davis (Thorndon Park) are joint second with 5.5 points.

The Essex PGA pro-am scheduled to be played at Rushmere Golf Club in Ipswich on March 14 has been cancelled.
