Ladbrook Park-based pro Andrew Jones made the short journey across Warwickshire to Maxstoke Park to secure his fourth win of a highly successful PGA in England (Midlands) season.
Jones laid the foundations for success with four birdies in his first eight holes around the highly regarded parkland layout.
He hung on thanks to a level-par back nine which contained the vital winning birdie at the 17th, securing him a three-under-par round of 68, just enough for a slender one-shot victory.
Tom Whitehouse and Paul Broadhurst shared second, Whitehouse shot an eagle on the seventh and two further birdies in his 69. Broadhurst, (Northants County) continued his recent streak of good form with another solid round highlighted by four birdies consolidating his second place in the current PGA in England (Midlands) money list.
In total 34 teams attended the event which was held in fine late summer conditions, Whitehouse had the consolation of winning the team event with his fourball, recording a score of 128 for a one shot win.
