Jones wins again at Cumberwell

Paul Jones completed back-to-back wins in the Dorset and Wiltshire PGA Winter Series with a one-under-par 70 around the red and yellow course at Cumberwell Park.

The Canford Magna man’s previous success was at Broadstone where he shared top spot with Andy Windsor (Ferndown). This time he went out in one under with birdies at the third and fifth holes. Despite bogeying the last hole he returned in level-par to claim a two-shot success.

The third medal of the series attracted a record entry and Gregg Davies (Ogbourne Downs) marked his first appearance as a professional by picking up second place after carding 72.

Barry Forster (North Wilts), Dan Carter (Upavon), Tim Miescher (Bowood), Ross Langdon (South Cerney), Barry Mutter (Broadstone) and Mark Searle (High Post) shared third on 73.

Jones now leads Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) by 25 points in the Order of Merit with James Wilson (Dudsbury) third.

The next medal is at Ashley Wood on Thursday 12 December.
