Jonny Pearce Dies After Health Battle

Hartford Golf Club is mourning the death of PGA professional Jonny Pearce following a brave battle with a brain tumour.

His golfing career began when he was aged 12, joining Mobberley Golf Club with his brother Matthew, and helping in the pro shop until he was 15.

His dad Kevin recalled: "Jonny's golf game was improving all the time, so he decided to join Mere as a junior member. After his "A" levels, he went to Manchester University to study for a BA Hons in Sports Science.

Jonny signed up as an assistant professional at Upton-by-Chester, prior to moving to Delamere Forest to complete his PGA programme.

"He then joined his childhood sweetheart Jemma, who later became his wife in 2014, and travelled around the world for seven months visiting many exotic places. On his return he was appointed head professional at Chapel-on-le Frith for five years, but in late 2014, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

"He continued working, but found work and travelling every day exhausting, and took a coaching role at Hartford. Sadly, his condition deteriorated, and he died at East Cheshire Hospice aged 35."

Jemma, and two-and-a-half year of son Max, have lovely memories of Jonny, and he will be sorely missed.

The funeral is on Monday, December 10, at 1pm at Vale Royal Crematorium (CW9
8RP)
